Woods=World

In the play "Into the woods" many fairytale characters wish for something. There is a pattern that occurs throughout the play. First the characters wish for something, then they go into the woods, and achieve what they wish. I think the "woods" represent the world and opportunity. They go to the world and achieve what they wished for. This, relating to our lives, is the same. The world is our opportunity. We grow up and have choices to make. Whether we choose to go to college or start a family, we are choosing to go into the world and discover ourselves. We are choosing to gain a life and start again. I think the woods and world are inspiring. They help us have ambition towards aspects of our lives. Also, in the play you see people who get what they want or wait for it to happen. This can also be applied to our lives. We can step up and get things done or we can be passive and not have the opportunity others have! I also think actually going into the woods to get the wishes done is also a symbol because it is saying to us that we need to go out into the world and get things done. We need to be proactive if we want things to be accomplished.
